49 News Ceratech Business Division Acquired 2nd NET Certificate 2015-04-24 471

Our company, led by the Ceratech Business Division, acquired the New Excellent Technology (NET) Certificate for our “Insulation material reinforcement and molding technology using expansion-type Perlite/Silica powder” on April 24, 2015.

The New Excellent Technology (NET) Certificate is an initiative co-governed by the Korea Industrial Technology Association, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards. It is an early-discovery initiative that identifies new technology developed at corporations, research institutions, and universities across Korea. When the NET governing body discovers new technology, it certifies the technology as a promising technology for the future, and promotes its commercialization. It also proposes trading opportunities and reinforces the reliability of products that decide to adopt the new technology. By doing so, the NET Certificate aims to create the foundation upon which companies and organizations developing new technologies can secure purchasing power and expand early into various markets.

This new technology from our company takes advantage of the structural benefits of Fumed Silica, something that previous Fumed Silica insulation materials failed to do. It delivers excellent strength and moldability, even at low densities. Our company expects this new technology to improve productivity and cut costs drastically.

Moreover, this new insulation technology can be applied to other insulation materials that require high efficiency and lightweight. When applied, the new insulation material will display extremely low heat conductivity and an expansive temperature range throughout which the material can be used in, making it perfect for LNG tankers, LNG bunkering applications, etc. that require insulation materials for ultra-low temperatures as well as passive house structures. Not only that, with the new technology, the material will be able to serve as a high-temperature insulation material for power plants and petrochemical plants.

Previously, our company acquired a NET Certificate for our new “Closed-cell high-efficiency heat insulation material HYPERLITE” technology in 2012, bringing our company’s NET Certificate total to two. Rather than remaining content with our success, however, our company continues to devote our resources in developing new and innovative technology.
